Dear Maruti team,
I am frustrated, I am not going to recommend Maruti vehicles to my friends & relatives.
I had a bitter experience, mental turmoil, safety jeopardized, Even I am planning to go to Consumer Court next for compensation.
My name is Mohan Chandrasekaran (PH:[protected], Bought S-cross 1.3 Alpha top-end in December 2015 (From Sree Saradhambal Autos). Vehicle Registration number TN 37 CM 9100. Till today, have run 75, 000 Km only. I WAS a fan of Maruti and I own 2 Maruti Vehicles.
In 2019 Apr, at 43000 Km regular service @ Sree Saradhambal Autos (Maruti Authorized service center, Erode, Tamilnadu), I had complained about Hardness and Stickiness in Steering rotation. My vehicle was in warranty period (just 3 years from my purchase date). There was NO action taken for that specific problem, as I confirmed from the records given. After service is done, there was not much improvement, I thought it would be because of normal wear and tear. So I was driving as it is.
[p.s. I did not know this is a steering manufacturing defect, I was not informed also. Now in 2024, I checked my vehicle chassis number. It’s falling in the suspected faulty VIN range supplied by Maruti. Horrible but true, I had to do extensively search forums, Net to get these information. These information was denied to be given by the dealer]
The vehicle was regularly serviced at Maruti service center till 2022 ( 6.8 years from my purchase date). Horrible fact is, the technicians did not note this issue. And, even when I reported it, did not associate with Maurti circular to replace it.
In 2022 August [6.8 Years from purchase date], the service center has noted themselves as “Sticky steering, Parts not available”. And did not formally inform this to me in oral / written form. Later come to know that Maruti, has extended the steering change warranty to 7 years.
It’s now, 2024, I feel the stickiness problem ruin my hands, and afraid that Maruti vehicle may stuck suddenly in a highway, jeopardizing safety. I raised concern with Sree Saradhambal Auto Maruti Authorized service center, Erode and Maruti Local Area managers. Both saying, Its not replaceable under warranty.
My concern is, I may not know about the circular from Maruti to Service dealers. But, @ 43000 Km, 3 years after my purchase, When I complained about Sticky Steering, Dealer should have replaced under warranty. This shows the lack of technical knowledge of the dealer, also the ignorance on the safety of the customer.
I request the top management of Maruti, to immediately intervene this issue, and provide the solution what should have been done in 2019 April, when the vehicle was in Warranty period. At that time, the entire column assy was replaced by Maruti (later only child parts were replaced) So, I request Maruti, to replace full assy, as would have been in done in 2019, and help drive a safe vehicle.
